  • Excellent article, agree with pretty much all of it. The cuts to public services instead of heavier taxes on those earning more (including myself), corporations, capital gains, landlords, etc has definitely added to a loss of social cohesion, as these contribute by far the most of refresh, renewal and refurbishment of public spaces and resources, let alone the establishment of new ones. My town has seen the closure of public pools, libraries, walk in centres over the past decade or so, leaving everyone high and dry except for… those who don’t need to rely on them.

Seeing the political class shamelessly exploit their fortunate position, companies take advantage of "increases in costs driven by supply chain inflation, the “panic” over trans women and it’s no bloody surprise no one wants to talk to anyone else. One of my main escapes is clubbing, not just for the music, the dancing, but the connection that can happen with a complete stranger who “gets” the music and feeling like you do (be it on various substances or stone cold sober, I can’t cane it like I used to…)

    • Pixel 9 Pro phone
    • Framework 13 laptop
    • SFF PC for living room gaming
    • Desktop PC in the office (to be sold)
    • Kindle paperwhite
    • Steam deck (to be sold)
    • Surface Pro 9
    • HP Microserver

The laptop and SFF PC have EndeavourOS on them, desktop and SP9 Pop!_OS, Kindle is jailbroken. I have wanted to get GrapheneOS on the phone but hate to admit that I love the convenience of contactless payments too much

  • I used to go a lot around then, idk why (youth maybe?) but we weren’t that scared… maybe because it was a tradition of our group after the music on Sunday night to go on an adventure around the campsite, making friends with random other camps sharing drinks, uh various substances and generally chilling with randoms. So even though we were aware of all the chaos and mayhem going on around, we just cared about chatting gods-knows what to people we’d never met before

Now I do remember the bottling 50 Cent got in '04, my mate threw a camping chair on the stage. Funny back then, still funny now

  • But the year’s only just star… ohhhh whoops.

Pretty interesting so far, left a job for the first time due to burnout only to get a significant step up in role… to team who are pretty much similarly overworked. Will try to stick it out for the CV, at least the new CEO seems to have his head screwed on properly.

Externally, lots of scary news about the rise of Reform and the lack of mainstream alternatives here is sad but I also started volunteering for the Green Party. Just leafletdropping as I thought I should try to do something positive politically
