You probably haven’t activate Bitlocker. Up until now it was optional with Windows. I would argue it isn’t necessary for a desktop computer at home, but you should seriously consider activating disk encryption for a laptop.
Bitlocker encrypts your drive, not single files. Once the computer is booted up, it’s completely transparent to the user.
$3500 for a 2 bedroom apartment? This is so insane.
I use a few of the google apps via the sandbox google-play services on GrapheneOS and it works fine (Maps, Android-Auto, Camera, Playstore).
A bit better maybe, but still the worst phones you can possibly buy, in my humble opinion.
I had a Samsung A50 for some time. Worst phone I’ve ever see in my life. Terrible build quality, the thing came apart all by itself, and it’s my work phone that I really use at a minimum. And the worst is how slooooow this phone as always been.
Last year I got it “upgraded” to a A35 5G, it’s a little faster, but the build quality still seems to be rubbish and the bloatware is through the roof !
Yes ! I’ve got the exact same experience, it was mad ! Pop-up to update a bunch of baggage apps I would never ever want, I dismiss it for it to appear again exactly one week later. I untick everything and press next. It installed the stuff anyway ! This should be illegal.
My SO has had several and really liked them until they broke or got lost (the phones’ quality really aren’t to blame here). I’ve offered the Sony Xperia 10 VI to my dad last Christmas and it doesn’t come with much bloat at all, I would call it good.
But if you want a completely bloat-free phone, you can’t beat Google Pixel flashed with GrapheneOS.
My personal experience with Samsung phones is that they are rubbish, slow, full of bloat you can’t remove. Maybe the high end are good, but the A-series have no business being so bad for the price.
Some power-supplies also do this high pitch noise too and it bothers me a lot. Most people can’t hear it.
I never had problems with banking apps on GrapheneOS, 3 different apps, all work totally fine.
[email protected] is supporting your argument.
A Web browser is a complex piece of SW that needs to provide many, many, features and work with great performance. Therefore you need a large team of experienced developers (full-time and maybe volunteers) collaborating on the development and testing. This is cost in labor and infrastructures (servers, storage, internet connection, hosting of platforms, etc)
One such feature that is a must-have is playing videos, from YouTube, Netflix, Prime, Twitch and what have you. Most widely spread video codecs are proprietary, you need a license to implement the decoder and these licenses are expensive. H.264 is one such codec, very widely spread across many content and platforms. You wouldn’t want a web browser that lacks the ability to decode H.264 videos. There are many such codecs that are considered essential, and this cost a lot of money in total.
In conclusion, this is an argument as why developing a web browser costs money and requires a sustainable financial plan, even though it is open-source and developed mostly by volunteers.
My personal opinion: advertisement sucks. I don’t want it anywhere in my life. I would prefer to pay upfront for my web browser if it come to this.
Damn, next Silent Hill looks so realistic?
By “end-to-end” they refer to how deep they fuck you in terms of security.
I recommend you to use a regular Linux distro for your PC, SteamOS is always going to focus on handheld devices which may not provide de best possible experience for desktop. Bazzite seems to be the hot Linux gaming distro at the moment, it’s based on Fedora (my personal favorite, also a good option for gaming IMO). Maybe, give this one a try ?
Function over form, I suppose. I am pretty sure it’s mostly made of titanium and silicone.
It does seems like that sometimes tho, that surgeons are the mechanics of the human body, fixing you up in the most crude ways, as long as it gets the job done.
Argent metal (essentially the OST of DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal)
Caddy is the only reverse proxy I have ever managed to successfully make use of. I failed miserably with Nginix and Traefik.
Caddy has worked very well for me for several years now. It gets the SSL certificate from my domain name provider and all.
TV + Android box (Nvidia shield TV) + Soundbar.
This trio is a bug-riddled experience, constantly changing behavior without explaination, frequently malfunctioning.
All I want it to do is Jellyfin, YouTube and occasionally Twitch. I just want 1 on/off button on 1 remote that will turn on and off the whole system. Keypad to navigate, Ok and back buttons.
One day, the Soundbar decided it will only turn on automatic 1 out of 10 times from now on. Why ? Sometimes the video output will be green and I have to reboot the android box. Why? If my SO stand up from her chair in the other room, the TV will turn black from 5 seconds. Why ? The biggest button on the remote is NETFLIX that I don’t use and it’s very easy to accidentally press it and the remapping software only works sometimes. Why ?
This is so frustrating, also because there aren’t any fix possible. Any suggestions online may or may not work, most often they don’t. I am just stuck with this technology that is expensive, but still garbage and no better alternatives exist on the market.
