This is a bold lie that Nutomic keeps pushing. These donations go directly to Nutomic and Dessalines. The servers are not the problem. The problem is the admins who happen to be the devs.

I joined Lemmy with every intention to contribute and make a significant donation as well. But after getting banned and dogpiled for daring to say things like “Russia shot down a civilian airplane” and “the ML theory you are referencing does say what you claim it says,” I’m also here to say the fediverse will be better without cringe keyboard warriors like Dessalines and transphobes like Nutomic being involved with it. There are other projects to support.

This is literally how it works. In modern android you need to explicitly grants microphone permission to apps the first time you use them. Now, if they are clickjacking the permission notification, that’s something different, but the article doesn’t mention this.
