What AI slop? There is a surprising lack of spam on Lemmy, if somebody wanted to attack it you’d see a spamwave with hundreds of posts per minute. It happened once when we got spammed by a chinese group but never again.

Repair it, hack it, and turn it into a retro gaming console. You might need to solder a chip onto it for the hack to work if it’s a newer model, but it could be a fun side project.
The End of the F***ing World (2017-2019)
My 2nd cake day was going to be a few days after shutdown :(
Lemm.ee was a fantastic instance, it will be greatly missed. Huge thanks to the admins and owner that made it happen for so long.
A shame the communities will be lost in the transition, the movies/television communities are genuinely cursed. This is the 4th or 5th time people moved that community.
I guess now would be a good time to give Piefed another shot. I love Lemmy and all, but new features have stalled for too long and I’m ready for some change.
So long, lemm.ee
I feel bad for the people having to carry that setup.
Yeah. They’re apparently going to work on another movie until the last one resolves its legal issues.
I’ll probably slip on a banana peel right down the stairs
I can see an Elden Ring movie happening but… A24? The only way this could work is either if it’s animated (it’s not) or if it’s going to be incredibly high budget.
There is potential this could be good because there are a lot of stories that could be told before the shattering, but I’m not optimistic.
This isn’t even them scraping private chats and small servers, they just scraped public servers in the discovery tab. None of that information was ever private, and every user can browse the chat history there.
I’m sorry???
You don’t want to know…
The community seriously ruined the movie for me. I watched it bringing along some kids when it first came out and had a fun time, now I can’t even look at it without thinking about the abortion comic and other weird-ass fanfics that came out of it.
Does Lemmy even know what EEE means anymore or are we regurgitating words we heard from some article now?
What’s it going to embrace and extend? WSL has existed for ages and is just a way to run Linux in a convenient container on top of Windows. That’s it. It’s not an attempt to “extenguish” Linux, literally just make the development experience on Windows less painful so people don’t switch to another OS. This has nothing to do with EEE.
Open sourcing it with a permissive license can only be a good thing, and again they’re doing it to be more appealing to devs and maybe get free bug fixes from the open source community. It isn’t some grand conspiracy. But of course this community will react to news of “proprietary blob is now open source” with pessimism.
I got hung up on this before too but it’s apparently “Windows Subsystem for (using) Linux”
I don’t understand this post, Severance never claimed to be a mindblowing political series. It’s a sci-fi thriller that also happens to be a satire of corporate culture, nothing more. It doesn’t need to be “a deeper critique of capitalism” to tell a good story
I don’t understand how people listen to audiobooks. I tried multiple times to give it a try but always zone out after 5 minutes and miss parts of the story.
Direct link to the video. Spoiler warning(?) because this seems to spoil the entire movie that might never come out.
What could have been… I still have some hope that maybe some day this movie can move forward, and every year or so I check in to see if there is any news on it, but unfortunately not much has happened. The sizzle reel looks amazing. Why can’t another publisher come along and fund the movie?
Please god not the distrochooser site, when someone asks you where to install Linux you send them anything but that.
Just checked. Still works.
