Yeah, I suppose the obvious stuff, sure
Guess I’m just rankled by seeing so many people making baseless claims and then telling everyone to figure it out themselves when they get called out on it, and it’s not the same as this.
Hidden panel: guy on left saying “google it yourself, don’t expect me to have to teach you anything”
Also, “Febuary“

root_beer@midwest.socialto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Hypersensitive tankie modEnglish3·1 year ago.ml tends to slap “rule 1” on everything, which says don’t be a bigot, even if that’s obviously not what the comment was about.
[emphasis mine]
Sure about that? From what I’ve seen, anything said in disagreement with the predominant opinion over there (and on hexbear, especially on hexbear) is deemed “bigotry”. They don’t appear to be interested in ingratiating anyone to the cause.
Conscience and consciousness are not the same thing

root_beer@midwest.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•Roku explores taking over HDMI feeds with adsEnglish3·1 year agoI quit with apps on LG after whatever I was watching or doing would cut out with an error message saying that the TV was out of memory. It was particularly egregious when I was playing video games. Now I have a Roku sound bar, but look where that’s gonna get me.
I’m in the path of totality but I fully expect it to be overcast here. Because of course it would be.
root_beer@midwest.socialto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL there is no original TI-84 as the TI-84 Plus was an upgrade (like iPhone 14 to 13) to the TI-83 PlusEnglish1·1 year agoI did that back in the ‘90s on a TI-85 while everyone else in my class was sideloading Tetris onto their fancy TI-86es and laughing at my poor ass; iirc there was already a function built in for solving polynomials though so not only was I a poor loser, but I also wasted my time
Teacher took that poor cat’s head right off
There’s a documentary that may help explain this, iirc it’s called Paw Patrol

root_beer@midwest.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•Vinyl records outsell CDs for the second year runningEnglish1·1 year agoHm, digital downloads count as physical media? I might? be able to see the merit in that classification but I’m not entirely convinced.
root_beer@midwest.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•Vinyl records outsell CDs for the second year runningEnglish21·1 year agoI want to know what “other” is that is also clobbering CDs. Can’t say it’s streaming because it’s physical media. The article mentions that half a million cassettes were sold, but that doesn’t really answer the question. That “other” takes up a lot of space relative to CDs so I’m pretty curious.
There seems to be a small glut of options, but so far the ones I hear about that are decent-to-good come from We Are Rewind or Fiio. They both use the same mechanism that pretty much all portable cassette players have been using for the last couple of decades because no one else is developing anything new, but they use better materials (e.g., metal flywheel instead of plastic, electromagnetic erase head instead of permanent magnet).
That said, if you want things like Dolby noise reduction, a more sophisticated mechanism, and whatnot, you’re gonna want to bide your time and hunt for something vintage, hopefully refurbished. And be aware that the less you pay, the more likely you’ll need to do some maintenance.
[edit] yeah wow don’t go looking for something like the Sony WM DD9 above; I’m seeing them listing from $1200 to closer to $2k, with the only item I’ve seen going for under a grand being sold for parts only
