Honestly we do that when we ask and no one speaks up. Lovingly called the “scream test” as we wait to see who screams.

Freeze your credit
I don’t know if it’s the same in the EU, but this is the single biggest thing you can do to protect yourself (I mean besides passwords and such). Freezing your credit makes it much hard to open a line of credit under your name like a random store credit card or such. Please try to do this as soon as you can.
Considering how old Facebook is…. They probably never bothered to upgrade the authentication system because “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and it didn’t matter to their revenue.
So where are they all going? I doubt everyone is gonna find another non-profit or any altruistic motives, so <insert big company here> just snatches up more AI resources to try to grow their product.
How are you shifting? I had the hardest time with how I was “taught” manual until I had another friend correct me. You should be making a smooth transition between the clutch and the accelerator, so think 100/0…75/25…50/50…25/75…0/100. I was originally thinking that i had to be completely off the clutch before applying the accelerator and have to do it with pinpoint accuracy like you said and it was rough every time. After talking to my friend who had been driving manual for years and still does, I got a lot better.
“Family I like talking to”
“Family I deal with”
“Family I’m obligated to talk to”
And then let them fight out who renamed the group if they miss the notification.
Forza Horizon offered custom horns, one of them was the Teams “someone calling” notification. I would be in a race and use that horn and laugh as another player suddenly goes AFK.
Had a color wheel in a DLP TV explode on me. Fairly easy to replace but it was a pain to clean out all the glass.
Can someone in the UK tell me how that home costs £450k? Is real estate that crazy over there or are they trying to recover the £300k they spent for the marble?
Healthcare was my initial thought too. Especially in the US it’s used way too much as a bargaining chip/greed center. Yeah I’ll just stop living.
Don’t know if that would work as the payment is your life. You wouldn’t be around to receive it. Interesting thought experiment
Only later do you find out your uncle is actually your father because of a bizarre incident where your dad got his nuts punched by an unknown person never seen again
This was most likely posted by a kid who just thinks Unix is “old” Linux and doesn’t understand the roots of what it actually means in terms of computing.
Thank you! That’s what I was looking for.
You know I’ve known for decades that -9 is basically “nuke it from orbit”, but does anyone know what the “9” actually means or where it came from?
Guys out here sending BMPs…
Besides the other reasons here the biggest reason IM took off is the “I” part of the name. Email measures its SLAs in days. A lot of the retry intervals are set 4 hours with timeouts of 72 hours. It wasn’t designed to be “Instant”. Granted probably 90%+ of email gets delivered in under 5 minutes, but imagine having a chat and your responses are delayed 4 hours. Just send an email at that point.
Cool cool, so who will be paying for the time to archive it, the medium the archive it to, and the accessibility should someone else want to access it? I mean I can put a copy on a floppy disk and keep it in my desk and say it’s archived.
The noodles just slide down your throat.
You’d be surprised with inheriting tech debt. Quite often there’s no documentation, the last person to log in to the system is an admin that quit 3 years ago, but it doesn’t much matter because that’s only for a direct console login which normal users don’t do when accessing the application. With tribal knowledge gone and no documentation, only when you pull the network for a bit do you discover that there was this one random script running on it that was responsible for loading up all the needed data in the current system, when 9 of the other 10 times those scripts were no longer needed.
In a perfect world you’d have documentation, architecture and data flow diagrams for everything, but “ain’t nobody got time for that” and it doesn’t happen.
