nicgentile@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What popular TV show did not do it for you and you quit watching?543·2 months agoNever got the appeal of these ones. They aren’t bad shows, but they did not do it for me.
Game of Thrones
Lost
Better Call Saul
Peaky Blinders
Breaking Bad
After the Promise 1987
Escape from Sobibor 1987
Dang '87 was a tear jerker fest in my timeline.
Medical distributor (last mile) in Texas. We are laying off people. I am likely on the chopping board come the next round. We had a lot of govt contracts that have gone.
nicgentile@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What hyped thing did you fall for that you now regret and have to live with?4·4 months agoOh I do. Friends remind me all the time how all in I was.
nicgentile@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What hyped thing did you fall for that you now regret and have to live with?15·4 months agoI used to preach Reddit. Like the gospel. If you called me on the phone about an arbitrary subject, at some point I would have said, ‘Well, on Reddit…’
I was so in, there was a sub of one of my favourite tv shows I was hot on and I ended up being mentioned in a newspaper in the UK.

I was all in. Quit Twitter around 2015 when it started getting ultra toxic. Quit Reddit when 3rd party apps were killed.
nicgentile@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Europeans of Lemmy, is American beer really that bad?137·5 months agoNot a European, but a well traveled person who has drunk beers in Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, Botswana, Senegal, UK, Poland, China, and the UK, as well as drunk beers from Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic etc, I stopped drinking beer when I drunk American beer. Sure, there are some good microbrews, but holy moly, there are some questionable things that pass for beer in America.
Thanks for the link. Keeping an eye on it as well.
I’ve been using a Unihertz Titan Pocket. I’ve been too lazy to flush the ROM to LineageOS. I actually will buy a second one as a backup for the future until I can figure out something else.

nicgentile@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Website hosters of Lemmy, which hosting service do you use and why?4·6 months agoMy fiction writing site (www.gorillarepublic.co) runs off of Grav. I wanted to go DB free, so flat file was big, wanted to avoid WP and Ghost, so this became it. It’s fast, light and works for me, thought it needed panel beating to where it is right now.
Mercedes E350 2008.
I wanted an old school Mercedes, but the old 90s S Class would have been too expensive to run so after a bit of research, I came across the W210 and then I realised than a W211 was within reach.
So I bought it. Been a bit of drama with it. 2 fender benders, parts and maintenance. I DIY a good bit and I am happy with my decision. Gone cross country three times with it and daily drive it on my job which involved driving around 200 miles a day. It’s comfortable, fast, and quite reliable.
I am happy with my decision till a light comes on the dash. Still, cheaper than car payments.

nicgentile@lemmy.worldOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Can anyone recommend an alternative to Grav?English2·6 months agoI have used both WordPress and Drupal and they are pretty good. I leaned towards Drupal more, for its flexibility. Grav is superb for my needs. Lightweight, fast, very few requirements, its the best platform to use for what I am doing. However, for all those benefits, there are limitations, and to me, themeing and documentation are a pain. However, it is the best flat file CMS hands down.
nicgentile@lemmy.worldOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Can anyone recommend an alternative to Grav?English1·6 months agoI am struggling with themeing.
nicgentile@lemmy.worldOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Can anyone recommend an alternative to Grav?English1·6 months agoExplored them previously, and today as part of my research, but would not work for my current situation. Hugo in the future though may be a potential move.
Nice one.
