They didn’t capitulate. They never fought. They just did what was the best shot at earning money and gaining ground at the time.
Don’t ever expect moral based behavior in capitalism or geopolitics.

Haha, the chat system? That will be a shitshow. Oh my, thank you [email protected] for creating an alternative. :)
Lol, first I hear about paid subreddits (I am not much on reddit since they ended 3rd party apps). This might actually be the end of reddit, if they are really that dumb.
I have a kindle, but I never buy my books at Amazon. I just but them elsewhere, de-DRM them on calibre and copy them to the kindle. Not as comfortable, but okay for me.
First, what laws are violated? Doubt international law touches this, US law maybe?
edit: Why the F do you downvote me? This is an honest question. I really dislike Trump, but I don’t see what laws this violates, except maybe US laws regarding the separation of powers-
My father was always going on about how stupid it is to buy a car designed by computer scientists and electrical engineers. He himself is an electrical engineer who has a PhD in computer science. He might have been on to something.
They really do take 80s and 90s dystopian movies as inspiration. Almost funny how ridiculous unimaginatively evil that are.
I feel personally attacked, I agree with the article, but painfully so.

If we like it or not, twitter is still the most important social network for journalisst and thinktankers.
Yes, lemmy is not mainstream. But man, you are complaining about 1.4k upvotes on non-corporate media. This is extraordinary.
I am a little tired of the idea that “tech” is something extraordinary. Capitalists in a capitalist society will do all evil to fulfill their goal, t3ch or no tech. You could use the same sentence in everything in this society. Even: “… and how green energy always serves the ruling class.”
I once had a colleague who would get hysteric when someone would clean the coffee machine. People are weird. Not cleaning tea potts and even mugs is also quite common among elder germans. They argue it tastes better that way. (They drink the tea without sugar or milk, so it probably isn’t thaaat bad.)
At my university time I had some student friends who brew loose tea in a kettle. Was kinda disgusting tbh.
<Shaking the head with a samovar, smiling slightly disgusted about the paper taste.>
It will probably burst, but that does not man that AI will go away completly.
Hm, okay. Maybe it’s just a US government page thing then. Here in Germany firefox is still at 20% and used to be the standard browser until 5-6 years ago, so maybe pages are still optimized for it here.
Can you send me an example? I don’t think I ever really encountered those sites and I use FF almost exclusively for ~20 years.
In Germany you have to show your ID card to get it, at least in theory.
Tbh money could be the initiative. So many content creators nowadays have platforms beside YouTube. Often even self hosted weboages. If a federated alternative would come up, they could just set up an own server and keep all the earnings.
This would somehow need to get started though. No idea how.
