It took me WAY too long to realize how bad the most evil person I know is. To him, though, it’s not evil. As far as he’s concerned, everything he does is fair, reasonable, and justified.

Good for you. Laws are nice, but sometimes firepower is the best option for securing your rights - especially if you live in a country where DEI is sneered at.

Totally understandable, even to someone who counts this film as a favorite. It is very slow moving.

She’s walking funny on purpose. Those are meant to be some kind of velcro or magnetic slippers she’s wearing. She’s walking carefully because she doesn’t want to go drifting around in microgravity while carrying a tray of food.

That’s my interpretation, anyway.

This film is my go-to whenever anyone mentions visual effects. If I were a director, this would be my gold standard for absolutely timeless effects.

I’d probably have to resort to fraud. I’d just say I needed seed money for some AI bullshit, and BAM, I’d be swimming in cash overnight.

When I see “without chemicals” I just assume it’s shorthand for “without known harmful chemicals, probably” until I carefully read the label and learn more

Yeah, that’s an obvious choice, but I like his character more than his superpowers. He’s civil and polite to various world governments, but ultimately, there’s no stopping him from doing the right thing.

If he’s too powerful and that’s a negative to you, substitute Captain America. The same reasoning applies.

If a perishable product comes in an opaque plastic container, that’s a deliberate choice. Always be suspicious of it.

Neither am I. It seems unique because it’s actually become a tiny part of pop culture, which, to me, is what fits the definition of “memorable”. Nobody cares about some old guy in a cave distributing wooden swords.

WHY THE FUCK ARE PEOPLE STILL EXPECTING THIS GARBAGE TO WORK? Tesla’s “full self driving” crashes have been widely covered. Is it simple ignorance? Are they not aware of the news? Is it stubbornness? Laziness? Thinking that “it won’t happen to me”? Do they sincerely believe Musk’s lies?

I know that victim blaming isn’t the answer, and that’s not what I’m doing. I just want to know what’s going on in their heads.

lol they were definitely invested in the topic. They were shouting and occasionally slamming things around.

I’ll use myself as an example.

There were some guys having an argument in another room, and it got increasingly intense. They were speaking some kind of Arabic. I thought they were genuinely mad at each other, but then one of them mentioned an athlete’s name and started listing what sounded like stats.

While telling this story at a party, I said something like “Arabic is a very angry-sounding language.” I noticed someone’s eyes get large, and I didn’t realize until then how racist I had unintentionally been.

Later, I thought more about it. Any language that you don’t understand sounds bad if people are having an emotionally charged conversation. It didn’t occur to me until then how easy it is to be thoughtless and racially insensitive.

I generally try not to be an asshole, but I messed up big time. I have no idea who he was, but I’ll always be grateful to the guy whose eyes got big. He gave me a much-needed reality check.
