… They weren’t before?
… They weren’t before?
well, it’s not the first time I’ve been called a communist for saying that people deserve rights.
the tech side of .ml is why I haven’t blocked that instance. They genuinely care about privacy and FOSS, as is the instance description. When I joined lemmy, I considered .ml for my home instance.
As soon as politics comes up though, the tankies come out in force, and oh boy the temptation to get banned is real.
If you’re on a road trip, and you can’t agree on a destination, then arguing about the route to get there is pointless.
in this analogy, the “destination” in question is whether or not women/lgbt/blacks/jews/etc deserve rights. No point in discussing healthcare policy with someone who thinks women should be property and gays should be executed.
Boo fucking hoo. Everyone else has to make licensing agreements for this kind of shit, pay up.
anyone else miss how you used to be able to simply set all the colors and fonts for things yourself? And it was easy. It wasn’t just light theme or dark theme and those are your only two options, but really whatever you want.
windows xp truly was peak windows.
(everyone should switch to linux, btw)
$2200-$2400, for the ones that were both complete and actually had price tags.
“that sounds awesome, I’d totally buy one!” i thought before looking at the price tags. I think I’ll stick with plastic.
Studios need to remember that their shows are advertising for merch and toy sales. That’s where the money is. If I pirate your show, then you don’t have to support the infrastructure to provide me a stream (which would look like shit because you’re not google). I buy posters and tshirts and stickers. Some people buy minifigs and funcopops and other plastic tat that’s cheap to make but sells for, well, whatever that crap sells for.
Furthermore, I wouldn’t mind paying $10 or $15 /month for ONE streaming service if it was able to maintain good picture quality at 1080p AND had all the shows/movies I wanted to watch in one convenient place. Extra emphasis on ‘convenient’. Even more emphasis on it actually having content I want to watch. When I watch a show, I like to watch the entire thing in like, two days. Then I’ll not watch any shows for two or three months, until something gets my attention. I don’t want to pay for a service I don’t use, cancelling and reactivating a service every couple of months is too much hassle, so I’ll just wait until the show is done airing and download it all and watch it at my pace.
surprisingly, I miss dvds.
Well, i hate it. Every single phone I’ve had sucked compared to the one before it, ignoring the capabilities of the soc. I miss my pixel4a compared to my current pixel6a. When I had a galaxy7, I hated it compared to my galaxy2. Nothing compares to the original droid, that was the best phone I ever had.
Now there’s a new phone? I bet i’ll hate it.
i used to use touchpal, because I liked that I could swipe up on a key to get the upper case version of the letter, or swipe in other directions to get other variants.
They enshittifies the product a few years back by inserting ads into every app i was using.
These days i just use the android default, but I miss the functionality touchpal had.
Wut? Are you serious? You’re just going to boil down an entire artform to that? That’s an unbelievably reductive opinion.
This statement can also accurately describe those who say ai art isn’t art.
i’ve heard that quote attributed to socrates. you tellin me he ripped off another motherfucker?
i misss multis. I don’t want to make 9 accounts to keep my interests organized, and people telling me that’s what I’m supposed to do can stop it.
I don’t miss getting nagged to use their app every time I click a link. I had an app, they killed it, I’m not installing another one.
I used to pay for youtube premium. My logic being that I was using an adblocker anyway, and I wanted the content creators I watched to get some kind of revenue for my watchtime. Youtube stopped taking my money a while back, and I can’t be bothered to figure out why. These days, there’s so little content that I find interesting that I spend more time scrolling than I do actually watching videos. It’s only a matter of time until I just stop regularly going to youtube.
malicious intent
I am of the opinion that there should be more granularity to NSFW than a simple binary.
I’m a fan of how e621 does things:
rating:s (safe)
rating:q (questionable)
rating:e (explicit,)
But I would add another:
rating:t (traumatic, known elsewhere as Not Safe For Life)
Call it “purity” and allow users to filter posts to allow or block any arbitrary combination of purity levels (wallhalla, formerly wallbase, does this if you want to see how it could work).
This is the year of the linux desktop!
By our powers combined, we’ll exceed 2% market share!
(no actually, please support linux. I just switched like a month ago and while it’s so much better than windows there are so many petty annoyances that will never get resolved unless more people bitch about it and that kind of support needs more users)
I’ll never have kids.
My niece though will have a thorough education on sailing the high seas when she’s old enough to choose media on her own.
