Me too. If Chatgpt is like this, it won’t be as controversial as Google’s glue pizza.

Lately I viewed Close encounters of the 3rd kind. Hasn’t been my cup of tea. Boring plot.
But I’ve liked the time dilation aspect. The previously missing didn’t age. Maybe their velocity was so high relative to Earth’s velocity before landing on Earth. Maybe they were near a supermassive black hole. Maybe both?
It’s a flick so maybe it was magic, not time dilation.
1 reason is that they want as much data as possible. They sell the user data. Or they use the user data to improve their targeted advertising. They want more ad clicks.
Re app versus site, many know how to block ads on browsers. With an app, the firm is hoping they can show you ads. Ads can be removed from some apps but the layperson doesn’t know.
Phones are like 💻 now. The year-to-year improvements are tiny. Some factors related to this –
At least for folks like me who sometimes read re chips, chip improvements are 👍. But big year-to-year improvements are probably hard. If it was easy, Apple or Qualcomm may have already designed a chip that was 2 or 3 times faster than the old 1.
So hard to have a clean implementation of under-screen cam and face recognition sensors. Hence, hole punch. Samsung fold has an under-screen front cam but the implemention wasn’t clean and the pic quality is below average.
So hard to make a 🔋 that’s 2 or 3 times better than the old 🔋. The tech world has been so hungry for a 🔋 innovation for a long time. There was optimism re graphene. Idk if it’ll succeed in mass production.
Is this the word firms use to kinda hide their error, which was moving to the cloud?
A traditional soldering iron in my nation costs about PHP 450 (about USD 7.95). The portability, accelerometer, temp control, easy repair and the ability to solder while charging a phone are 👍, but USD 250 is so high.
Ublock origin – best ad blocker
Aside from Firefox + Ublock origin, I have Firefox focus. Its ad blocker has let thru disappointingly many ads.
Been using my Samsung a70 for almost 3 years and I knew re touch sensitivity only lately. I don’t want scratches on my screen so I’ve always wanted a tempered-glass protector. I’m on my 3rd tempered glass.
I’ve noticed that more and more apps are requesting my location. 😑
Yes, it doesn’t mean much if the fine is 0.0001% of Android’s $.
I read that pairdrop.net was 👍 too.
Exfat if you wanna use your usb drive on Macos or Linux.
I have Windows so I’m OK with Ntfs.
About 10 years ago, my usb drive was Fat32 by default. I changed it to Ntfs due to Fat32’s 4-GB cap, which I’ve disliked. I’m still using Ntfs.
I’m awaiting the day a firm makes a practical quantum computer. I’ll be stoked on that day. Idk how folks will write programs for it or if the idea of “program” will apply to it at all. Will it make things faster? Like compiling code or frames per second in gaming?
👍 article. Firebricks may accelerate our transition to sustainable energy.
Was the tablet’s touchscreen as responsive as iPad’s? What was the operating system? If Windows, I can see how it failed. Previous versions of Windows were mouse-and-keyboard-first. I think Windows 8 was the 1st to truly consider touch and iPados was still better.
Microsoft had an Arm Surface device a few years ago. It had a 💩 chip.
Frequently unresponsive or very unstable apps shouldn’t have been in the Play store in the 1st place.
Anyway, to the Play store’s credit, I downloaded many bank apps and I never got a fake bank app.
Been using Samsung messages for years, not Google messages, but I just wanna comment.
I’m OK with it. It’s been an ai race. It’s natural that Google is taking advantage of the millions of Android phones and of the fact that many are using Google messages and Gmail.
Adding Gemini to Google messages is sensible to me. I just hope it won’t be annoying.
Gmail has been my main email but I didn’t see Gemini in it. Maybe in the future?
These news articles support my idea that Google doesn’t care re privacy. I’ve been using a Samsung phone, which has Android. Android has permissions re cam, location, 🎙 and others, but I won’t be :o if Google can bypass all the privacy features if it wants my data.
When Chatgpt 1st shook the tech world, I said thanks and please. Then at some point I stopped. I’ve just wanted to enter my prompt very fast. Grok 3 and Claude 3.7 sonnet (extended thinking) have been my go-to llm but when in a hurry, I just use the Gemini voice assistant or Meta ai – I have the Messenger app.
