Unironically one of the most surprising thing about the current crop of techbros is how anti-intellectual they are. Back in the day Paul Graham published a smarmy essay about how you shouldn’t have possessions except books. Nowadays, I see so many techbros saying “I hate books” and “I never read.”

It’s weird to have your self identity be both I’m smarter than everyone else and also I don’t read. I really am baffled at how they square that circle.

When I was a kid there was a cartoon called Captain Planet.

The bad guys would build these factories that didn’t seem to produce anything but pollution. Like, they would take in trees and sea creatures or whatever, and the only thing that would come out is smog and green water. It was very on-the-nose.

The wedge already exists. The Trump people started leaking that Elon is a seagull less than 3 days after the election. The problem is that Elon paid for Trump’s victory and he’s continuing to throw money around. Trump knows this and it’s why he keeps appointing Elon’s goons to the administration (beginning with JD Vance and continuing with David Sachs and all the other VC).

Clearly they were put there with the intention of making it difficult/uncomfortable to lie down on the subway vent. If they were installed incompetently that doesn’t make them unhostile though, it just makes them ineffective for their obviously intended purpose.

TBH I think it was always clear that he was going to be at least somewhat right-coded given that he was so competent with firearms.

I personally don’t care what he thinks about pronouns or whatever, unlike Rittenhouse or that subway guy he actually went after one of America’s true villains. The right wing violence in this country finally found a legitimate target.

The “all in” podcast is hosted by four goulish Silicon Valley VC assholes. The audience is mostly simps but it’s an entertaining listen just to see how out-of-touch and self-absorbed they are.

It was fun watching the “All In” podcast about this. Half of the regulars didn’t even show up so they had to get seat warmers. And then they dropped the most hilarious out-of-touch takes of course, and also demonstrated their inability to sympathize with anyone who’s been a victim of the death machine while sympathizing with the CEO “he had two kids” but you could also tell how visibly uncomfortable they were even talking about it. One guy even winched at one point. It was glorious.
