  • If two parties are at odds with one another, and one on them is willing to use violence and the other isn’t, the violent party wins.

Non violence works when people care about what you’re going through. If the right people know and care they’ll come in and do violence for you to make it stop. Or at least verifiably threaten violence. But violence is happening whether you did it or not.

Nazis don’t give a shit about you, they’re eager for violence. They want to exterminate entire classes of people. Non violence does not work on Nazis, we’ve already seen this play out once before.

I have occasionally found the Google search AI handy in pointing me in the right direction, like when I can’t remember or don’t know a particular term for something, it’s decent at giving me the term I’m actually searching for. Can’t trust it for shit as it’s intended to be used though.

  • Many years ago my grandfather was involved in an air force test of aerial defense platforms that used balloons.

The idea was you could station these things all around the country and at the first sign of an attack you could have missiles launched from 10k feet to anywhere from anywhere.

The test encountered two problems that caused them to abandon the idea.

These balloons were incredibly easy to shoot down. Which would, presumably, rain volatile rocket fuel and munitions down on whatever was beneath them.

And if a missile launched, but failed to separate completely from it’s housing, it would carry that balloon on a wild, unpredictable trajectory, until it collided with something or it decided it had reached it’s detonation time.

So the city I live in has a few of these and they’re some of the best burgers in town, for fairly reasonable prices.

There’s a fucking war on here for the best burger and I’m so happy for it. We don’t fuck around with burgers.

They’re so good and reasonably priced that the first time I saw this meme I was a little confused. Like yeah the aesthetic is kinda lame but that doesn’t change the food. Maybe the stools aren’t comfortable but like, there are regular tables. Like what’s the problem??

Then I went to another city.

My friends, I am so, so, sorry. You don’t deserve this. Good burgers aren’t hard, they’re really not. Just stay home, invest in a griddle. Even if it’s just a small one for your stove top, you can make better burgers at home. Make friends with a local butcher, he won’t steer you wrong. I don’t know what caused that trend but I know the only way to stop it is to stop going.

  • YouTube could fall off the face of the earth and I would probably see my quality of life improve slightly.

I don’t give a shit about Google. Perspective here is important when you threaten to leave the platform all together, as if they would care. If you’re one of the users they gain no ad revenue or subscription revenue from, they’re probably happy to see you go.

Could they be doing more to try to turn Adblock users in to paid subscribers? Sure. I’m not here to defend their methods. I’m just saying that if you’re not paying, and you can’t be served ads, they really don’t care if you continue to use the service or not.
