Try pooling your resources with others. I know my experience was from a long time ago but this is how I see people making it work now as well.
I had roommates for several years after school. It should have been even longer but I had to get married early like a dumbass. If you can at all, use that time to save what you can.
While you’re doing that, get experience and connections at work. People will come and go and it’ll be helpful to have people you can reach out to that know you enjoy your work and see that you’re good at it.
Most companies don’t provide good growth opportunities from within so every couple years, look at making a move. My biggest pay jumps have occurred this way.
Don’t be afraid to apply for positions that you might feel are just out of reach. Having connections that can vouch for you and help you with your resume are very valuable for these.
Along the way, don’t pass up your employer’s retirement matching, and save as much as you can. Since you don’t have a degree, look for certifications in your industry or take advantage of any help your employer can provide with tuition for college. Don’t be afraid to do it slowly if you have to.
I know I had a lot of help getting opportunities but it was always on me to make the most of them. Good luck, I hope you make it where want to be.
2·5 months agoSorry about that. I guess I completely missed your point that you were referring to data sharing only via the new “agreement” getting foisted on people. Fingers crossed it doesn’t get into Merlin.
Here are some screenshots from my router administration pages. Notice the “Powered by Asuswrt-Merlin”.
In the first image you can see that I have a particular feature disabled.
When I toggle it on I receive a warning that my information will be collected by Trend Micro.
I included another screenshot showing the location where I would withdraw my consent to having my data collected, were I to actually use the advanced features of the router, that I thought I was paying for at the point of sale. Instead I was apparently paying for the privilege of having the option dangled in front of me, behind an agreement for yet another, separate company to collect my family’s data.

The data sharing persists even with merlin. I get a prompt about it as soon as I tried to enable those advanced features. I still get updates though.
2·6 months agoThat’s a good point, I actually have not. I came to that conclusion based on the reviews I’ve read.
I may have purchased that exact item from Amazon a few months ago. It is 100% worth saving up for a bit to purchase something this good. Debian stable is fully supported. It’s currently just my streaming client but it’s pretty powerful and sips power compared to off lease desktops or even laptops.
Pixel 6a here in the US. I bought it directly from Google. I have the app.

Each application can have its own default download location. Reddit apps were particularly bad about that and it may have carried over into lemmy as well. But learning the settings for the software you want to use isn’t a terrible ask.
Moronic or bad faith argument. Why do you even try?
I just had to purchase a vehicle. My insurance company basically asked me not to buy a KIA or Hyundai and warned that the premiums for those makes were super high.
