Yes Mbin fixed this, my instance runs a version of Mbin and I love it, sad we are missing a few things from Kbin but the quality is better in the end. I’ll have to look at more Lemmy.world communities as that seems to be where most people end up

@[email protected] It would make sense for him to be but I guess it might be easier to use accounts that are not so much public knowledge like @[email protected] rather than the head of META themselves. Really hope if it goes well they will possibly even think about doing the same with there other platforms.
Thank you
That’s fair enough, I know that I want to see smaller communities to grow such as ones for certain games and creators. Making it into a place not only for Techy people is what the Fediverse needs to grow to wider audiences.
Does it do it automatically or do you have to request from the admins of the instance?
Yeah but rather it not become a breading ground for people like that with Elon’s plans on adding dating into the mix.
Yeah it’s one of the many reasons I use Kbin / Mbin over Lemmy. Really hope features like that come to Lemmy in the future.
Just kill it please, People will be much better off on the Fediverse both mentally and to get away from bigots like Musk.
Yeah I find it sometimes helpful that multiple people can run communities in different instances but ATM it would be good if a few people created alternatives to set reddit like communities and we all go from there. Maybe it’s a project someone could work on.
Kbin / Mbin actually fixed this by allowing if a Community isn’t managed for 3 months by mods then it will be available for people to claim to admin. This allows people to keep the Community going and hopefully blow some life into it.
They are testing it in the Beta versions, hopefully it will be added to the release versions soon as it seems like a cool feature
Sadly purchasing a phyical copy still will mean you can’t play it due to the required download for most consoles these days.
Yeah this is one of the reasons I’ve been slowly moving my gaming time over to Steam as they very rarely do stuff like this and if they delist the game, if you’ve already purchased the game you can still play it 99.99% of time. Sad to see Playstation go down this route.
Shows really how far it has fallen.
And this alternative will not be able to go away easily as Decentralisation allows anyone to run an instance.
It’s where I really hope more of the Reddit community will jump ship to Fediverse instances as there seems to be less and less of a future for reddit in my eyes.
I would hope that donations to the author or something could be a way to fix that at least a little.
It’s always good to see alternatives but decentralized ones seems to be the most likely to become a new norm for people and I’m all here for it.
That’s not good, especially as they wanted to join the Fediverse in the future.
Less of a public figure than Zuck I was meant to say. I really do hope they have a goodish intent and I’m sure the Fediverse will keep on going with or without META, just really hope to see more of a general audience join us on the Fediverse
