The smaller community can be a selling point. On reddit, a single voice pretty much gets drowned out by the masses. Lemmy feels much more personal and like an actual community.

I work as a software developer, making 3d, Virtual- and Augmented Reality applications for industrial and commercial customers. For example I make trainings where you learn how to operate certain machines in VR or tourism apps where you can explore the history of a place through phone AR. Basically, I do the same thing as a game developer, often using game engines like Unreal and Unity, but not making actual games.
I work from home, so a typical day is just me sitting in front of my computer for 8 hours a day. Sometimes I have to visit a customer or a trade show for a few days, so I’ll take the train and stay at a hotel somewhere. It’s generally a pretty interesting job where I get to use a lot of different tools and hardware. It’s also not very stressful, in contrast to actual game development.
Didn’t Willie Nelson out smoke Snoop Dogg at one point?
Probably. They even did a collaboration song together, “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die”. Pretty funny hearing Snoop sing a country song.
This one for example. Don’t know whether it technically has internet, but the smartest function it seems to have is FM radio.
Old-school “outlaw” country music is great. Like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and the like.
There are totally still working dumb phones that use 4g. Just be prepared for giant buttons, as the target group is mostly elderly people.
The little Polish (formerly German) village my grandma grew up in. She never got to see it again after the war, so I want to make the pilgrimage there in remembrance of her.
The family treasure is also supposedly still buried there, but I don’t think the locals would appreciate a random German digging holes in their village so I’ll refrain from searching for it…
That won’t do much. Each of the spam accounts I’ve seen is on a different instance.
Celebrate my 18th birthday
…unless the Buddhists are right
Kind of well-known these days, but also obscure as we literally don’t know who made it or even what it’s called: “The most mysterious song on the internet”
Hearing from my parents about the shitty, uncertain times they’ve already been through. Like the threat of nuclear annihilation during the Cold war, the division of Germany, various economic crises… everything was eventually followed by better times. Will everything work out in the long run? Who knows. But I don’t think we’re on some kind of linear path where everything will just get worse, forever.
I have a Z flip and while it’s far from perfect, foldable flip phones are great and I’d choose them over a same-spec regular phone every day. Much more convenient to carry in my pocket compared to a slab and basically having an included tripod for photos is pretty nice as well.
Definitely unethical. Domestic cats are already a huge problem for wild bird populations. Why would you want to intentionally make that problem even worse?
Google Glass was not AR. They were “smart glasses” with severely limited functionality for an extremely high price. That’s mainly why they failed, not the privacy backlash. The majority of people don’t care about privacy, just look at what information people put on the Internet.
Moondrop Chu 2 earphones. I use expensive Hifi gear at home, but those are more than good enough on the go while also being cheap enough for me not to have to worry about them getting damaged or stolen.
Also games and console collecting for me. Just not fun with today’s prices. I guess on the upside my collection is now worth way more than what I paid for it. Not that I’m planning to sell.
As little as possible. The only things I always take with me are my phone and my keys. I generally look at the weather report and only take an umbrella with me if there’s a chance of rain. I only take my wallet if I’m going somewhere where I might buy something etc.
I believe it’s “I love you. Will you be my boyfriend?” through a letter substitution cypher.
I find his content incredibly annoying to watch. Especially the editing style with all its rapid cuts as well as the constant shouting. It’s made for people with no attention span.
It’s nice that he donates to some good causes, but multi-millionaires shouldn’t exist in the first place, and donations from rich people won’t fix the world.
