What’s the best Spotify alternative?
What’s the best Spotify alternative?
The worst part about this is the lack of explanation.
Even if I personally disagreed with their reasoning, I’d appreciate a thought-out, sensible reason, and most likely accept it.
But they’re not even giving you the common courtesy or respect that a simple, clear reason would provide (i.e., “we don’t allow registrations from .io domains, because we see too much hacker shit from that TLD.” Or any explanation, really, would suffice).
“Just because” never sits well with me.
Stock up on old physical books
I was like you. Rubik’s looked like magic ever since I had one as a kid. So, as an adult, I hit Google, then I went to cubeskills.com, paid them $10, watched their videos and read their PDFs, and learned “the beginner method.”
It took me about a week (I have a family and a job, so).
I can solve now in under a minute most of the time, and that’s good enough for me.
So, “solving” a Rubik’s is just a matter of memorizing a set of algorithms (move patterns). That’s it.
Now, figuring out how to solve a Rubik’s cube from scratch, by determining what those move algorithms are through months of trial-and-error, that would be quite the feat! That’s what you attempted to do. I did not do that, nor did most people. We ain’t got the time or patience for that.
Anyway, if you haven’t already, get your kid a nice Gan cube (the one with magnets). Well worth the money. If he sticks with it, he might hit sub-15 or sub-10.
I don’t know, things going how they’re going, how we’ll manage to defeat fascism and recover without violence, but I hope I’m wrong.
I talk big on the internet, but I am not ready for violence, and it’s not a road I want us to go down. But options appear to be dwindling, tragically. Without Rule of Law, where do we go from here? Judges can issue rulings, but without enforcement, we have fascism. What then‽
I didn’t know when I signed up. I just had to “pick a server,” so I did.
I didn’t know it was considered a tankie instance when I signed up, and I’m not a tankie, fwiw.
As a chronic procrastinator, I ain’t doing shit.
They kicked us off of Reddit, dude.
I dunno, man.
All I know is that open-mindedness is far less common than I’d once assumed.
And there are those people who aren’t actually interested in truth, but are instead interested in “winning,” because they see every conversation as a power struggle, with a winner and a loser (and as such, language is merely a tool to be wielded for gaining and maintaining social power, not actually finding out things for their own sake). Part of that game can include pretending to be curious and interested in truth, because of the positive image that can project for them.
When those of us who are actually curious about the world interact with one of these types, it can be quite a confusing and frustrating experience if we don’t know what we’re dealing with.
Neat, that was really helpful.
Yes, I’d simply picked my instance at random.
I’m relatively new to Lemmy: what instance(s) in your (collective) opinion strike that sweet spot between being a) very free speech oriented and minimally censored, but also b) not taken over by alt-right CHUDs, trashed up like 4chan, or hosting CP, gore, and all that nastiness that comes with zero moderation?
What I’m looking for, is just enough moderation to keep out the 4chan shit, but anything below that threshold of actually hurting people, pretty much goes uncensored.
I just want to use the c-word, b-word, and r-word, basically. Like, there are a lot of stories posted involving JD Vance, so…
I never really saw the point of journaling, so it never “took” for me.
I write a bunch of stuff down, and then what? What do I “do” with it? Do I read it again later? No, I won’t do that. Somebody else reads it? No, it’s not intended for that.
So, I don’t journal as such.
I do organize my tasks and things to remember in a bullet journal (bujo) format, though, and that helps. But it’s less about thoughts and feelings (long-winded opinions and observations), and more about tasks and events (simple and concise one-liner statements of fact).
I do like bujo to keep my work organized.
Ok, on a side note, the idea of a “commonplace” book does sound kind of appealing, though; but I guess my life is too busy to afford me the leisure and luxury of analyzing literature, writing poetry, and sketching natural wonders, or whatever. I’ve got too much shit to do. My few fleeting moments of “free time” are spent here, complaining (wow those naughty word filters are way too strict) about MAGA, basically.
A parasite keeps reminding you it’s there until it (or you) is destroyed.
Good.
What happened to IRC? It worked great.
100%.
Fun fact: intentionally leaving pee on floors and toilet seats is a lesser-known but frequently-observed associated trait of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD).
I guess it’s some kind of primal lizard brained “territorial” thing, I dunno.
I’ve tried this on personal projects, but not work projects.
My verdict:
To be a good vibe coder, one must first be a good coder.
Vibe coding is faster to draft up and POC, longer to debug and polish. Not as much time savings as one might think.
