They all lulled us with meme culture. Instead what we needed was to create anti ads. Any time our podcast or content creators began showing ads, then we should have first been super pissed off. Pissed Off because these people ruined television. We were in a time when companies were creating patents were you had to shout the brand name at your TV to turn off the commercial. The internet was content creation without those capitalist fucks. Second we should have made an effort to create as hostile and environment to them as possible. Sorry to the little guy, but go to cable access.

For every ad that sucked our free time, we could have produced at least 2 anti ads. Like when a podcast advertised for zockdoc or whatever, we all needed to leave comments like “pretty sure they told my aunt she had cancer even though it was just a cough” or if it’s some drop shipper on reddit acting like they just found this cool temu star lamp then every comment should have been about how these lights burst into flames and killed your entire family.

We need to make the internet as hostile as possible to advertisers. They are the reason we are tracked and why have enshittification. They built the systems to track our profiles and market to us all under the guise of selling ads to random content creators. Why is pewdiepie and Jack Paul and Joe Rogan millionaires now meddling in our politics. Because we didn’t defend this new frontier. We knew they’d create data scarcity, we knew we had to stop it, but they rat fucked us with cat videos and memes.

no they don’t. That is what they tell their people. Israel is a foot hold into the Arab countries. Any military needs to be able to deploy rapidly. First to the battle has strategic advantage and smaller less powerful armies have destroyed larger ones just with that advantage. Israel lets America control that area and gives intelligence that it wouldn’t have otherwise. Without Israel, they lose a major strategic advantage to controlling the Arab world. Do you think people going into to the streets against armed forces should pack up because the authoritarians have total control over the streets and can kick in heads at their discretion. You need numbers. Humans are social. They change opinions slowly over time, but only if they see the herd moving. So when you all leave, it rebalanced everything to the right and their content spread. Leftist creators tried to break through and failed without Engagement. Right wing propaganda spread further and faster than ever before.

Arguing with CHUDS online is the biggest industry there is. There’s a reason for it. Call it whatever you like but it’s undeniable fact. These platforms are critical to stopping fascists. Fascist rely on public displays of strength and power. It’s the only place you can make them look like assholes effectively in front of the people that they’re trying to appear strong to.

You talk about wasting time. The biggest waste of effort and time is posting the same fucking anti trump slop here on lemmy but can’t be bothered to do it anywhere else. We all know he sucks and what they’re doing. This content isn’t created to hand to people who agree with you. People need to be flooding the zone with it.

Regardless if they own them. It’s still where the most amount of social relevance is. Some lefties are there and numbers and influence is growing but that’s momentum dies quick without increasing numbers and engagement. And trust me they’re working hard to crush me voices. I just saw one say they’re getting flagged at airports because they run a travel blog and they say fuck ICE.

The left cannot win anything going forward unless they beat the fuck out of the reich on these platforms. There is no protest that can succeed if we don’t have a good presence on the platforms that people get their opinions from.

They might own it, but they can’t just flip a switch saying censor lefties and allow their ideas to spread. We’d all know and it would wildly turn a lot of people away from them. They are forced to leave the gates open. Instead they convince us to self censor. Reality is we all should be there now, building groups and putting their ideas against the ropes. It’s a numbers game. Play the game. Give them no area to spread bullshit uncontested. We need to be creating hubs and roads so that when the next election comes and they ramp up their presence that it’s met with an equal force.

And compare that to the leftist handing social media over to the right uncontested.

Deleting Facebook does not delete MAGA content. What is gone are the views and framing of events from the left.

Facebook’s user base are primarily older, Apolitical low-information voters, community groups, parents, workers, retirees, church groups… These are not MAGA voters, they are regular people who mostly passively scroll, absorbing whatever dominates their feed that day.

When left leaning users deleted their social media accounts, it didn’t delete MAGA content. This rebalanced the algorithm. Comments and posts became more dominated by right leaning voices because fewer people were there to counter them and because there was more of it.

Silence functions as consensus.

When passive scrollers see MAGA or right leaning content, they don’t think ‘this is extreme’ instead they think ‘this must be normal or widely accepted’. Without content that can counter it, right leaning messages begin to shift public opinion. You can see this reflected in polls, polls answered by regular folk not just MAGA. Within public opinion you’ll hear how protestors are violent or burning down cities, vaccinations are dangerous, ANTIFA is a terrorist organization, media is always fake and lying, etc… these views we all thought would be insane 15 years ago have become status quo.

Research shows a small, committed minority can flip majority opinion once it crosses a critical threshold, around ten percent. That minority does not need to convince everyone. It only needs to dominate what people see often enough to make its position feel normal.

MAGA are using platforms like Facebook to become committed agents who consistently proselytize the opposing opinion and are immune to influence. And they can only become those agents when the left is not there to challenge them. When we all left Facebook and x and whatever else, we played right into their hand.

You can put hundreds of millions of people in the streets, but if digital spaces are dominated by MAGA frames then public opinion will turn against any protests or efforts.

Public support matters. Views matter. Presence matters. Framing matters. Abandoning the largest passive audience on the internet only serves to accelerates the normalization of MAGA.
