To back it up - Poland, smaller city, 1Gbps, no limits, $19
Fan of breaking echo chambers by being devils advocate. Other than that, centrist. As in in USA I’d be considered left.

With amount of walker bots prototypes… Soon.
Humans have no business being in holes
Thus, sex became forbidden, and humanity declined, with last generation asking their ancestors why would they impose such harsh ban upon them shortly before extinction.
You are aware that even if you make stickmans, people will appreciate it if the meme is good, right?
Until someone does something not FOSS’y or anti-linux.
On on hand, yes. On the other…imagine frustration of management of companies making and selling AI services. This is such a sweet thing to imagine.
. . . does. Import whole ass library, use one function, once. Probably one of the easiest to implement yourself. Boom, file grew. Repeat.
In this order: Red, purple, black.
Also wow, so many folk love purple on lemmy.
Oh god. One electrical fail and you spend whole day changing lights xD
Using Edge daily. I like it, it’s comfy, it doesn’t hog all resources like chrome.
I admit I had to learn more about USSR during our convo. And however much I hate admitting this, it would me insincere of me to not admit USSR had more sensible politics internally than I thought when it comes to food. They were, however, still insanely brutal and sadistic regime while dealing with anything comparable to opposition to their goals. So yeah, thanks for broadening my horizons, but please never state USSR was in any way or form good guys. They massacred, murdered, invigilated and abused, not unlike Nazis, at least in Poland.
Checked with my friend and checked few other sources on this. Friend, who studied history, knew about these - other articles also mention that such tries were held, and the Nazi hate towards communists is known to me, however the reason why it failed is different for each point of reference I have so I am unsure what to make out of it. Still, learned something new. Thanks.
Western Powers did, in fact, take offense. But it was too little, and Poland fell quicker than anticipated. Also, Polish goverment didn’t collapse so wtf are you talking about - it went into hiding but was still very much active. And it’s kinda hard not to see Soviets as aggressors when they also attacked and massacred Polish side and were comfy enough to, after “freeing” land on their way to Warsaw, just sit outside it and wait for Nazis to do their cleanses. -.-
Feeding those who need it? That’s why people died of hunger under USSR? Yeah, in Russia they took care about theirs. Every country other than Russia was, however, at best ignored, at worst plundered. And yeah, there were stores - famously empty stores. I heard about them from my family members, about the lines, waiting whole day, about exchanging goods for favors among people. Also, I am not from US and trust me, I am not seeing them as paragon of virtue either.
People were incentivised to basically snitch on each other for any and all hints of not following what the “glorious” USSR wanted. So it was common that people used them to go higher in standing or get what they wanted. Especially folk who liked the newfound power that USSR granted them over their neighbours.
I know they hated each other and never said otherwise. But they cooperated to fuck everyone else. Only after Nazis attacked USSR, did USSR move against Nazis.
Most people won’t quit, especially in the US from what I know. If they are already underpaid, how can they quit? And if pretty much every place treats waiters the same, what choice do they have?
What in the everlasting embrace of god. Soviets, who - I’ll admit - simply chose to work people to death painted as the good guys? The same soviets that starved, beaten and let people freeze to death? The same that put people in cattle wagons and rode them out to syberia in nothing more than clothes they had on their backs?
This sounds to me like satire. If you hire people, you need to go through HR process and then you are rewuired to pay them monthly.
System is one and done. It may be pricey up front, but as they already have infrastructure in place, long-term costs will be laughable compared to additional employee per every shop.
In what world keeping employee doing useless work is worth it?
Polish ID’s are slready digital. The question is whether you want to have it in-app or not. Also the gov bent over backwards so we can essentially do 80% of stuff online - from taxes to forms, most things can easily get done online. And why gov likes it? It reduces amount of workers and headline, because a lot can be automated, and also ensures more people will bother with shit because it’s easier.
Well, to keep profile on Bluesky they essentially keept the same social media presence guy and just tell him to switch. To add to it Mastodon, they suddenly need to extend infrastructure to add a server, need to have someone manage that server and on top of that make that social media presence guy also take care of posting there. If they even have that guy and it’s not simply something Monica from HR is doing.
And all that for what, maybe 500k people using it? Accounting for people not hearing about it, not being in EU, not caring about it etc. etc.
For comparision, Bluesky has 3 times Mastodon’s users and it’s growing quicker than Mastodon, being seen as viable alternative to twitter/x.
I love that rhetoric but it reminds me of reddit discussion about mother suing the zoo after she dopped her children into…I think it was hyena pen?
People got pissed that it was ZOO that was at fault, not her. There was a barrier if I recall correctly, waist-level one, and the pen was lower than the walk to separate animals from humans, but parents liked to held their small children over the barrier for…reasons. Well, she lost hers.
And people absolutely blamed ZOO for not idiot proofing more. As if it was us that should be kept in pens xD
