EVE is one of those games that early on it’s tutorial was essentially ‘Here’s a spaceship, go fuck yourself.’ When they say you can do whatever the hell you want, it’s really not joking. There are people who live in JITA (most populace system) purely doing scams, or running markets. You have people who go into piracy or try to build massive empires.

I knew a guy who his entire playing of the game was making ammo to sell. There was a corp who’s entire thing was doing PVP but with a bend to “Customer service”, as in “Here is your complimentary missile delivery.” and after blowing you up sending you a request to fill a survey on how the customer service was.

So it’s a game that really is what you put in it. The reason I had to quit is it’s a massive time sink. It’s definitely not a game of “Oh, I’ve got about 30 minutes, let me hop on.”

This is EVE we’re talking about. This is honestly one of the more benign if not weird habits.

This is the game where to join a corp you nearly needed a resume so people could make sure you weren’t a spy because months to years infiltration processes happen in this game. Or just rampant piracy.

I knew someone who would go around collecting corpses. A battle is going, he’d be out there scooping them up. He’s running a hauler, and this was the day that when your ship got destroyed, every bit of loot went out in individual units, so when a pirate would try to shake him down he’d respond with “If you blow me up, you’ll crash back to desktop.”

That was how he played the game, gathering corpses.

But then the right wing even to then was building to massive corporations that donated to them, groups like the biggest anti-union propaganda machine in the world, WalMart. Notice that during the Reagan era they had “Trickle Down Economics” to fool people into thinking if the wealthy were just wealthier, then they too could be wealthier.

And the wars between groups have been speared on by the US since post civil war. Can’t have former slaves having jobs, that’d take from the whites. Can’t have people from overseas taking railroad jobs, that takes jobs from Americans. The big slaveowners of the American South were not the majority, so why did so many people fight for that confederacy? Because they were convinced by those wealthy that if slavery went away, there would go the economy… especially as so many people’s jobs were in existence to the slavery machine.

Joe Rogan wasn’t some new bogeyman who figured out how to overthrow the world. The rich has been finding ways to make poor people fight each other instead of them as a tale as old as time.

He bankrupted a casino. That’s all you need to get.

The problem is the big hungry bears are looking at y’all trying to figure out how to divvy your area up, and only thing keeping the Trump one from just cozying completely up to the other is his inability to stick with a thought process for more than five minutes.

I left iphone because of a walled garden issue, was thinking about working with my parents off of iphone so I can actually assist with them because I’ve been off of it for decades.

Instead may be the other direction because at least iOS has a modicum of privacy by at least telling the US government to make their own back doors instead of just licking the boot like google does. I have found one use for generative AI that I have liked. I’ve thrown it at aggravating searches for me.

Use case example: I stopped traveling across the country and got a job at one location. It’s across the city. I’d like to find an electric bike to get there. The location is 12 miles away as the crow flies. Unfortunately my city is absolute crap at any kind of non-car transportation so it needs to get myself up to 40 mph at minimum. Honestly if I’m going that speed, I’d like a scooter like the a burgman. Trouble is “scooter” runs the gambit from competing to motorcycles like the Burgman, to little ones like the Vespa, and stand up ones like you see dumped all over cities downtown. Electric motorcycles start getting into “I might as well buy a new motorcycle” prices.

Alright, I do a search for electric scooter, I get all standing scooters. I’ve attempted changes and maybe find a sitting one that is made for not getting over 25 mph. Finally getting frustrated I remembered one of my younger coworkers talking about using AI for searches, fine… ten minutes later I had a series of results of bike that fit my criteria as well as small little dealers across the city that DuckDuckGo nor Google bothered to pull up, and that’s with me specifically asking for links because I didn’t want made up bullshit.

Now if we get to the point of AI becoming overlords, I’m sure I’m going to be among the first against the wall because the first couple searches of it not getting things right involved me calling it a dumbshit so…

So yea… that’s my territory of using an AI, it’s a better search engine for weird esoteric shit… I kind of wish it wasn’t an app or a website because if it was a physical device I’d have it next to a hammer which I guess shows how much I trust it.

I’ll be honest… your racism example was confusing as hell. I’m US and raised in the US south which is where our whole war over slavery started so could be argued the OG racist territory. Note: I’m speaking as a white male, so I’m speaking only as I know of the loudest demographic in the country, as well as only as I know of from my particular culture, if someone of other nationalities/races can speak up to if there’s different I’m happy to learn. I’m also speaking of the predominant standard of my region, that’s the other, it’s definitely regional because as someone described the US, it’s really just 50 war tribes in a trenchcoat. My location is about as close to the dead center of the continental nation as one gets so thanks to international airports we do have some world travel, we’re in what’s typically called one of the flyover states so it’s honestly not a lot end up here that aren’t planning on living here.

Early US racism might have been more like what you described, as the Irish and Italians weren’t considered “white” but pretty much at this point it’s very obvious racial traits where the racism exists. The average you see is Whites, Blacks, Asians, Native Americans, Middle Eastern, Hispanic. You notice there’s not any distilling down to any of the more defined areas, Native Americans get lumped in even though you have Cherokee and Navajo, Asians are one even when I’ve heard that calling someone of Japanese decent Chinese is offensive as hell. But the average day to day around here is based on a quick visual identification. Honestly want to fuck with Americans, have someone from Mexico “who passes” (looks like) for white, then have them start speaking fluent Spanish with the rolling Rs that we definitely don’t have the practice for and people will be baffled. Honestly the midwest and south has a lot of trouble with racism with Jews in history because while the racists say people should be racist to them… if you mix a few people of Jewish decent with a crowd, most of us would have no idea how to point out any of the features… I legit grew up thinking Nazi Germany was killing for religious purposes until I was 12 or so and thought to ask why they didn’t hide it like early Christians… which I had to be explained that it was a racial thing.

So there’s your baseline casual racism standard of the US, we just lump everybody into super easy to define categories. After that, your descriptions where I was baffled, the specific one that got me absolutely weirded out was every single one after “some think A are better than B.” It’s pretty much a how watered down is your racism here.

A) Basic small casual racism: I’m probably guilty of it, as you saw above I talked about the base line how we see race in the country. That’s speaking from my viewpoint, mostly born of ignorance of not knowing other cultures. I think pretty much everyone is guilty of it accidentally, the important part is to learn and actively try to not be. View everyone as equal, don’t have a problem with relationships. The spicy areas of this category is the stereotyping, some more hurtful than others IE: Angry fat white dude, Asians can’t drive, etc.

B) Getting to full on racism: There might be some cases of some of the “Race A and Race B are equal but them sleeping together warrant a murder” might exist, but I’ll call it now I’ve yet to meet it. Probably because if they’re of another race and racist, I’m the white guy… and the white racism is fucking bad. At least in my area, the ONLY reason you’ll have a white person who says another race is equal but sleeping with one of them is murder is because it’s even with the Confederates and KKK trying to bring back government sponsored racism it’s still not socially okay to say you’re racist. Hell, it’s not socially acceptable then and a guy will get side eyed real hard if he starts saying his daughter won’t sleep with a (insert race here). This territory ranges from the people who are mad they can’t say the “n-word” (a derogatory term used by early Americans about blacks… which were brought over as slaves) to full on angry uncle at the Thanksgiving table who’s saying the country is going to shit because of all the immigrants. At this point it’s getting into the white supremacist territory, but they’re the ones that will yell loud but if you actually confront them they’ll shut the fuck up.

C) Here be KKK/Confederates/Nazis: I can’t speak to any of the other groupings in the US and how murders go, but if the US is going race based murder happy, the predominant group will be the whites, and the KKK/Neo-Confederates REALLY want a race war going. These are the people who believe the myths they sold themselves when they lost the war 160 years ago (and our countries greatest mistake in our history is not hanging every one of their generals on public display as traitors until the body rotted off) and range from wanting to bring back “Jim Crow Laws” (Jim Crow being another pejorative for black people) that segregates people… at the time supposedly “separate but equal” (it wasn’t) where even down to the water fountain you had “Whites” and “Coloreds” all the way to the full extreme “The US should be a White Christian nation!” zealots or desire to bring back the confederacy.

The biggest trouble is people thinking that how it does in fact blend, group A likes to think group B and C are the small crazy kooks that there aren’t many of in this country, if you live in the south and believe this, your head is in the fucking sand, and frankly they’ve infested the rest of the country. Group B is still on the whims of societal pressure, so if society swings back to it they’ll at minimum be supporting those that wear bedsheets and burn crosses. Group C… well we’re only just a little over 100 years since the Tulsa Race Massacre, California started cracking down on gun control because of Reagan in 67 signing in the Mulford Act because the Black Panthers were walking armed copwatching because cops had a bad problem with excessive force (sure glad that’s been fixed /s) then marched on the capitol… The Mulford Act was supported by the National Rifle Association who weirdly got angry when a bunch of white dudes marched on a capitol in Michigan in 2020… weird. And naturally the Civil Rights Era where the end of Jim Crow laws came… and the flip of the south reliably voting Democrat to Republican because the Republicans enacted the Southern Strategy by specifically fanning the flames to the white racists that the federal government was overreaching by enacting the Civil Rights making blacks equal.

There’s one American stereotype I guess… we aren’t a subtle or nuanced people. It’s either no hate, kinda hate, or full on hate.

Since I don’t have a spotify, I don’t listen to those. I agree with above don’t just be upset with spotify, I blame the platform yes, but I also blame the people who got in bed with them.
