I once had a HP laptop, then the hinge got rougher, it became harder to open it up, then the screen popped off and the hinge broke
HP sucks, their products suck, and I hope they crash and burn
I wish there was a TV with absolutely no built in smart features and a slot in the back for a compute module (like a RP CM5).
Counterpoint, we have the Cosmic Desktop (or at least an alpha for it) and tbh its pretty cool :3
The answer is likley never, GOS devs dont trust Fairphone devs (due to poor security practices) and Fairphone devs are unwilling (in some cases unable) to meet the extremely high standards for GOS.
Not really, but I am sick and tired of Wikipedia haters constantly using every tiny mistake to prove “Wikipedia cant be trusted”. Granted they still use the age old lie of “anyone can edit it” and “nobody moderates it”.
It only takes a single incident like this for people to completely loose trust in Wikipedia, granted Wikipedia was already put to an insanely unreasonable standard.
Thats why the Linux kernel has a massive amount of CVEs, its extensively audited and researched.
Im not a security researcher tbh and I havent extensively studied the security model of Signal (I use Matrix)
Fundamentally the biggest security vulnerability in every peice of software is the end user. It does not matter how intelligently the software is designed, no amount of preparation can handle the users. That is not to say Signal has no security vulnerabilities but almost nothing can stop someone from inviting a random reporter (if they explicitly invited them). Furthermore I have a conspiracy theory of sorts, I dont think it was a mistake. I think Trumps own administration is trying to backstab him. Maybe they had ideas of becoming more powerful, maybe they thought Trump would reduce their power, but I feel that the amount of government leaks and just how complicated they are would suggest infighting.
I refuse to support them after they kicked Second Thought off the platform for supporting Palestinians over the GDF
Nearly every laptop OEM has been making comprimises, if you want a true classic Thinkpad style laptop (thats thick and has good build quality) the MNT Reform is the only option. Its massive, thick, has a mechanical keyboard, has an option for a trackball, and isnt particularly powerful (the Raspberry Pi CM5 is realistically the most powerful thing you can put in it).
The problem is that even the T and X model Thinkpads have been chasing thin and light above build quality. They no longer have protective metal cages, the keyboard isn’t as good, and its bends/flexes (which makes sense considering its thin). I get thats the “modern” laptop design but I wish they went back to making massive laptops.
Woah, I said an older Thinkpad. We dont talk about what Lenovo has done to the modern Thinkpad image (theyve dragged it through the mud). Eveyone knows the last good Thinkpad was the T480.
Wheres the introduction to Rust, choker, skirt, Blahaj, and Thinkpad X220?
