Something should be said about fringe servers (I’d never say “instance” except “server = instance”) and defederation both ways being common, so your home server choice matters. • Manipulation can be done by outside forces making fake users, not Fediverse programmers.
• Censorship is done by server administrators and community moderators, but (on Lemmy at least) community and its server censor your post, not your home server. Might show a scale of servers where lemmy.world is at the strict end.
• Your votes are public, you can be tracked, but it’s not done by default.
• On Lemmy, you shape your default firehose (‘all’) feed by muting (users, communities, servers), not by up/downvoting or following. A normal person will have to mute tens of communities for the feed to start looking tolerable. This is one of the many prices of freedom you will have to pay, as are bugs and user experience issues. (AFAIK, no fedi platform uses votes for feed shaping, but many commercial ones do.)
• The choices between apps or web-ui should be shown for each fedi platform.

I had a similar problem: I couldn’t comment in some communities - turned out the only allowed language was “undefined”, and I had defined “English”, which was the apparently used language there.

Let’s not clone trash. Tinder sucks because it has no matching mechanism to filter out incompatible people. To find one interesting profile on Tinder I have to swipe about 500 profiles. To get more matches, I risk some false positives and like ~2% of profiles. Then I need to filter the matches in person. Very inefficient, a waste of time.

The opposite of that was OkCupid before Match Group destroyed it.

Carnauba wax is food-safe, but non-abrasive, so it won’t smooth the now-etched matte surface, and it’s fairly soft, so not very durable. Many car waxes are based on it.

When I needed to anodise an aluminium object, I took it to the back door of a medium-sized coating company that serves businesses. I included a note with some relevant information: “no rush, do it when it’s easy for you”, acceptable range of colours, and my contact info. Took a while, the result was perfect, the price was low.

The Starlost needs a remake. Great premise, dollar store execution.

Foreseeing the destruction of Earth, humanity builds a multi-generational starship called Earthship Ark, 50 miles (80 km) wide and 200 miles (320 km) long. The ship contains dozens of biospheres, each kilometres across and housing people of different cultures. Their goal is to find and seed a new world of a distant star.

In 2385, more than 100 years into the voyage, an unexplained accident occurs, and the ship goes into emergency mode in which each biosphere is sealed off from the others.

Centuries after its original launch, most of the descendants of the original crew and colonists are unaware that they are even aboard a spaceship.

A more objective, or at least utilitarian justification is that oligarchy reduces total welfare by overconsuming limited resources for the benefit of the few. Propaganda for such inequity is unethical and should be banned.

Was that a gif animation? As such, it’s hard to understand.

Surely the banning government would recommend Loops, Pixelfed, Lemmy, Mastodon, and Signal.
