Not the one you asked but…I was a bit nerdy in high school and learned some programming. Nothing big, just c++, basic, and messing around in dos. I had friends try to get me into to Linux in the 90s but I was busy smoking weed and not wanting to learn things anymore.

Fast foward. A few months after joining lemmy and seeing Linux everywhere made me want try it again. I loaded Ubuntu on my old laptop and messed around a bit. Nothing big but I was able to do some basic tasks. It feels like a big world but knowing I could do basic computer things with Linux is a win in my book.

I haven’t really explored behind that, but I think the Linux community is just more into open source and see the clear benefits for humanity in the long run. Maybe that way of thinking just attracts more people to Lemmy. The decentralized aspect of Lemmy was a part of the reason I liked Lemmy. I wouldn’t want another spez or anything.

I was told overcoddling reduces resiliency. Parents always coming in to fix things without letting their kids try to solve it on their own. The kid may fail but the act of trying and figuring out why it failed helps greatly. Most parents just “don’t want to see their kids upset” though.

At this point, start an media company. Call it Working Class Propaganda and publish stories that I think we should be talking about instead of what is out there. Yes! I believe we should have snap elections if the budget doesn’t get passed. If you have 6 years or 6 months left, it doesn’t matter. We can do elections within 2 weeks. We don’t need 2 years for an election season. If the local community thinks their rep did nothing wrong, then they will be reelected. If not they will be replaced until a budget is passed.

We need a way to replace people that aren’t working instead of just dealing with them for years. If you can’t do you job then you are fired, unless you have a close connection with your local. Then you could explain the situation.
