You realize there are other providers than verizon, and places outside the US, right? The US is absolute shit for everything like this, service providers of both line Internet and wireless data. An example, here in Sweden it’s about $12 a month for 50GB with unlimited calls and texts, and no “traffic shaping” (never even heard about that). 100GB is $17. And how the fuck would you use up more than 60GB of mobile data per month?

Really? I got my family to use it with a simple explanation of why, and why they shouldn’t use other things. None of them are very tech-literate. And also simply saying it’s where they can reach me.

I feel like this is a you problem, you don’t explain it well to them and make them understand why they should use it.

It really isn’t minuscule, it’s still confusing enough for the vast majority of people. Just the fact that there are different servers and them having to learn about that is enough to put people off. Anything more complicated than basic sign-up/in weeds out 90% of people, every tiny little thing they need to learn makes it less likely they’ll even think about using it.

This is obvious. The way you and many others here think about how knowledgeable, tech-literate and willing to lift just one extra finger the average person is isn’t correct, people are dumb and lazy. And it hurts the fediverse as a whole and slows adoption.

Your opinion and my reply here have been said thousands of times, I don’t understand how your kind of ignorance and misunderstanding is still so prevalent, I see it almost weekly.

How do you not understand that someone just having it and someone actively using it is completely different?

Nah, it’s far more things than just those. I’m guessing the person who made this doesn’t have anyone who’s good at cooking around them. I used to have a friend who was like that, he and his gf only cooked 3 or 4 dishes and they were all bland as fuck. The only spices etc. they had were salt, pepper, thyme and a huge 1-litre box of cheap taco seasoning. Whenever I cooked for them, they were blown away, and I tried giving them some other species, but they never used them.

Some TIL posts really surprise you, it’s crazy to me that you have never heard about this. Not being degrading or anything like that, it’s just surprising.

I’d say the only reason you didn’t feel that before was ignorance, the American flag is NOT a thing of good. It has been fucked up from the very beginning. And to us who are not Americans, it’s very obvious how much your country absolutely forces brainwashing of all citizens from the second they’re born. American patriotism and love for the flag etc. is in the same way that for example a priest shows how much they’re against homosexuality and other sins like it then they’re found with child-p (I don’t want to fully write it) and stuff like that. It’s the school bully that screams about how cool and strong they are, when they’re exactly the opposite.
