The three known instances of censorship collusion that happened at that time concern the Canadian authorities asking Facebook to “remove users’ posts for ‘disinformation about lifting a COVID restriction’,” RebelNews now writes.

All you need to know. Fuck off with the right wing rage bait.

Censored Posts at Health Canada’s Request

“So vaccine disinformation? What’s wrong with that?” was the first thought that went through my head. Like this isn’t some kind of fascist institution, they just want to make sure people aren’t going to fucking die because some evil prick filled their mind with dangerous garbage.

Obviously Facebook didn’t do enough to remove potentially deadly misinformation because my ex-boss was foolish enough to think I got magnetized from the COVID vaccine and also thought masks didn’t work. I wish they’d been more proactive about removing shit like that.

Anyway, this seems less like a privacy issue and more like right-wingers being crybabies.

Literally magnetic. She asked if she could try to stick a magnet to my shoulder where I got the vaccine. Predictably, it didn’t stick. Sadly, this didn’t seem to convince her that she was wrong.

Right-wing “science” is a whole different animal, and I think we should shut it down, before they pull out the skull calipers and things get really ugly. As long as it’s not the state doing it, I agree with Facebook and other media sites deplatforming these clowns.

Not OP but if it’s anything like my cousin, literally magnetized. As in “attracts ferrous materials”

As in “my credit cards don’t work because you got the coof Vax not because they’re over their limits and I make poor financial decisions” and “don’t get too close to grandma or your blood magnets will set off her pacemaker”

They reported three posts! The scale of damage that must’ve been done to the vital ebb and flow of our corporate social media discourse is practically inconceivable, you might think.

But I’ve done even worse: I have reported more than five posts from spammers to fediverse admins who subsequently removed them. Tremble before the might of my awesome power of censorship, fedizens!

Wrong. They censored by what they are reporting/to be, at least 3 posts. For all we know it could be 10, 100 or 1,000, 10,000+. Also, worth noting that Facebook does not normally censor, they down-throttle posts. So they will be seen by a lot less people as a way to get around from later whitewashing themselves from the icky word of “censoring.” Despite the end result being the same.

“Health Canada finally had to provide the documents – two whole pages /s – no less than 11 months into being asked to release them. The documents concern the country’s government – specifically the Health Ministry – asking Facebook to remove “at least three” posts published by users.”

It is a good way to lie without lying, or lying by omission. Corps. Tech and otherwise does this type of thing all the time.

      I so dislike Facebook.

Also, fun fact, FB’s “Fact Checks,” are just opinion. Sourcing the NY because it is not like CNN is going to report this.

Relevant parts of Judge Ruling for this are on page 12-14 from case were FB admits this. The whole case was ridiculous except for FB admitting this.

First of all, using Facebook isn’t private.

Beyond that, I’m tentatively glad about this. With the amount of harmful health misinformation that was being shared on Facebook and other social media, I’m glad whenever the content hosts take reasonable actions to remove things that are potentially dangerous.

Ah yes the highly politicised healthcare department. With all their highly trained and knowledgeable healthcare specialists, truly the last people you want to set the record on what is and isn’t accurate medical information.

Every time I get a comment from you, it’s always a shit take. Funny that.

I agree, but this doesn’t rule off the possiblity of a government to deliberately calls out truth as “fake news” or “disinfornation”. Especially some authoritarian regimes to downplay the event.

His warning is valid. While I trust professionals and specialists, I shall also use my brain to make sure what they said make sense.

That might work for me and you but it clearly doesn’t work at all for the anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists in general. Hell, they don’t even realize that keeping a secret with all members of a profession around the globe is just not feasible even though they have probably seen how it doesn’t work in their friends group of five people dozens of times.

It’s FACEBOOK. I have seen headline after headline of shit like this for over TEN YEARS NOW.

HOW IS ANYONE STILL SURPRISED BY THIS?

EDIT: So, apparently, the “censorship” was to get rid of right-wing misinformation. Different story, I suppose. Fuck right-wingers. No, I did not read the article. Yes, I feel foolish for not having done so. I have thus given myself a perfunctory slap on the wrist as punishment. I shall soak in the guilt henceforth.

It’s a right wing propaganda site. The stuff that was taken down was for very good reason.

I think its a very grey area when the government starts taking down things that it finds to be fake news. Sure no one wants the neonazis but the same censorship policies can be applied to any belief.

The only good thing about this is that it may encourage people to seek private and censorship resistant alternatives.
